We have received a report that at approximately 5:00pm on Saturday 20th September, two males, believed to be a father and son, were seen using a catapult to shoot at ducks and moorhens along the boardwalk in Gnosall. Wild birds, including ducks and moorhens, are protected by law, and it is an offence to intentionally injure or kill them. Those found committing wildlife offences may face police investigation and potential prosecution. The law exists to protect our wildlife and preserve the natural habitats that so many people enjoy. 🦆⚖️ Our local lakes, waterways, and green spaces are important community assets. They provide a safe environment for wildlife to thrive and allow residents and visitors to enjoy nature responsibly. Acts of cruelty towards animals not only cause unnecessary suffering but can also have a negative impact on the wider ecosystem and the enjoyment of these spaces by others. 🌳💚 We would like to remind everyone of the importance of treating wildlife with respect and helping to protect the environment for future generations.
